DRWF hosts an annual programme of Diabetes Wellness Educational Events to support people living with all types of diabetes.

Whether you have type 1, type 2 or other forms of diabetes; are a carer, family member or friend; or a healthcare professional, our programme of events has something for everyone.

Our Diabetes Wellness Days are designed to provide the tools, knowledge and practical skills needed to manage and improve life with diabetes and ensure that all participants have the opportunity to raise their questions, share their experiences and enjoy the support of a friendly, like-minded diabetes community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

United Through Diabetes

Last year we launched United Through Diabetes to celebrate our 25th anniversary year.

United Through Diabetes is a unique event that brings together people of all ages living with diabetes, as well as family members, carers, and healthcare professionals.

Our Diabetes Research Village featured some of the UK's leading diabetes researchers, allowing for our attendees to chat about the latest diabetes research breakthroughs and emerging technologies.

Wellness Days

We work closely with NHS specialist diabetes teams and experts in the field of scientific research and clinical diabetes care from across the country.

These events offer people with diabetes the opportunity to interact and learn more about their condition and how to manage it effectively, in a relaxed and informal environment.

We recognise the benefit that can come from sharing and discussing concerns and experiences with like-minded people and healthcare professionals outside of the surgery or clinic setting.

Our events are tailored to the needs of those with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and provide an invaluable service to:

  • Those in need of advice, especially the newly diagnosed
  • People who manage their diabetes very well, but like to refresh their knowledge every now and again
  • Those having difficulty controlling their blood sugar levels
  • People experiencing associated complications and needing support and guidance
  • Carers, family and friends wanting to offer knowledgeable support

Attention is focused on the practical aspects of living with diabetes and the keys to healthy living. Every effort is made to cover the wide-ranging diabetes issues from:

  • looking after feet and eyes
  • dietary and exercise advice
  • associated complications
  • psychological impact
  • research advances

We have a selection of Information Leaflets available on our website for people to learn more about diabetes, management and potential complications.

We actively encourage audience participation in these events to ensure that all attendees have an opportunity to raise their questions; share their experiences and offer and receive support in a friendly, like-minded, authoritative community.

The Diabetes Wellness Event programme provides a unique environment in which to learn about the successful management of diabetes and all it entails along with the opportunity to make new and supportive friends.

We would love you to join us!

How We Can Help at DRWF

Events

Each year we run events for people living with diabetes, ranging from educational workshops and wellness events, to fundraising marathons and group skydives. To find out more about our events and how we support people living with diabetes, please visit our Events Page.

Research

Since 1998 we have provided over £12 million of funding for medical research programmes, with the aim of finding a cure for all types of diabetes. In 2004, we made a significant commitment to Islet Cell Research and Transplant, a programme which focuses on the role of islet cells in diabetes. Read more about our commitment to research by visiting our Research Page.

Fundraising

We rely on our amazing donors who raise the funds that help support people living with diabetes across the UK, as well as funding our vital research programmes.
